this week my mr and i began researching paint and materials to begin some small scale renovations later in the year. we were excited to find an amazing resource in ‘painted earth‘; a small business selling a large range of non-toxic, environmentally responsible house paints and wood finishes…. i am now dreaming and planning…

this week i am loving fresh bright whites and glorious pops of sunshine yellow. white subway tiles and no (or low) voc {volitile organic compounds} paint.

also loving natural fibers, wooden utensils and celebrating the little things.

imperfection

i just adore these moodboard style shots from mud australia. i am drawn to the beautiful bright white, the simple injection of colour and the beauty in imperfection. oh it makes my heart sing…

i am doing my happy dance right now because this week i have really kicked butt with the whole decluttering/paring down/home-beautifying project. i have created some small spaces that give me a sense of being able to breathe. places where my eyes can rest and appreciate small pieces of beauty. spaces to stop and just be…

my home is never going to be shiny, or new. it is imperfect and it is beautiful (in it’s own way). but… i do have some diy’s planned for later this year. first on the agenda: i want to paint our downstairs walls. at the moment our walls are rendered an earthy-pink clayish hue, and it feels dark and contracting. i am wanting to paint them white, and really lighten and brighten the space.

i am wondering if any of you have any recommendations on paint colour/brands etc. i want to go low voc… anything i need to take into consideration?

today, on valentine’s day, my man and i are celebrating our 9 year anniversary. i am so grateful to have his calm, his strength and his love in my life.

for the first time in a long while, i am happy. not just fleeting moments of happiness…. but really, truly happy in my centre. happy…. going through my every day intentionally with love.

letting go with love

i am not the most organised person in the world.

my home is lived in & there isn’t a place for everything… (yet *smile*)

but my longing for simplicity is continuing & the decluttering process is not only moving my stuff around, it is also moving around & bringing up a lot of emotional baggage (surprise, surprise heah? i don’t know why i didn’t realise this would happen). stuff i’d hidden away years ago, emotions and memories that have been weighing heavy upon my heart…. i can now make a choice to keep them or let them go.

if it isn’t working for me it must be working against me…

and i can choose to let go… to let go with love.

i love this bhagavan das quote. i think if i can put energy into doing things with love (even the decluttering) then i will be creating more love and joy in my life.

what do you do to create more joy in your life?

:: signs of spring are emerging. peach blossoms are flowering. the cedar trees are getting their leaves. the days are getting longer…

:: for me-  i’m holding on to the crisp, chilly mornings, and loving the brisk evenings, for just a while longer. the heat of our summer is too much for me… but, spring here is beautiful and i will welcome it whole-heartedly.
