imperfection

i just adore these moodboard style shots from mud australia. i am drawn to the beautiful bright white, the simple injection of colour and the beauty in imperfection. oh it makes my heart sing…

i am doing my happy dance right now because this week i have really kicked butt with the whole decluttering/paring down/home-beautifying project. i have created some small spaces that give me a sense of being able to breathe. places where my eyes can rest and appreciate small pieces of beauty. spaces to stop and just be…

my home is never going to be shiny, or new. it is imperfect and it is beautiful (in it’s own way). but… i do have some diy’s planned for later this year. first on the agenda: i want to paint our downstairs walls. at the moment our walls are rendered an earthy-pink clayish hue, and it feels dark and contracting. i am wanting to paint them white, and really lighten and brighten the space.

i am wondering if any of you have any recommendations on paint colour/brands etc. i want to go low voc… anything i need to take into consideration?

much love xx

grateful for sparkly things

oh my, the weeks are flying by. in only 9 days we’ll be travelling down south to see my boy. and i am beyond excited!! 9 days!!

my to-do list doesn’t appear to be shrinking. but rather than turning into some crazed mama, i’ve been practising gratitude.

being grateful helps me to slow down. it brings an awareness into my days. a reminder of how lucky i am; how blessed we are to have these small moments of beauty. so with the the countdown to christmas upon us i am choosing simplicity.

simple, beautiful gifts. simple decorating; and letting go of the need for things to be perfect. there is beauty in imperfection! (for example, our super spiky, potted christmas tree decorated by an overly enthusiastic 6 year old *smile*)

:: i am grateful for sparkly lights. they lift my spirit and feel joyous…

:: i am grateful that miss s is feeling better. after weeks of feeling poorly she seems to on the mend…

:: i am grateful for all the making time i had on the weekend. slowly, slowly the gift making is getting done…

:: grateful for you all, my dear friends.

love to you

wish i was…

i wish i was here… i love outdoor eating areas. the lights make a simple space feel magical. music playing; a warm breeze, seems perfect.

wearing comfortable boho chic. the colours in this top lift my mood instantly.

… and eating fresh berries and cake. (and maybe a g&t with fresh lemon)…

wish you were here dear friends.

on a side note: thanks for all the support and words of encouragement re: my decluttering. this weekend i’m attacking my closet, wish me luck xx
